This is my family’s chutney at least one of them that is very popular if you are from Peshawar, Pakistan. I learned how to make this yummy chutney from my husband who is a Pathan. We have been together for nearly 30 years.
You will need a mortar and pestle or if you do not feel like grinding it by hand use a food processor. This recipe is quick and easy and goes with fish pakora. I have posted recipes on a couple of sites and I have done that before I started to use my blog. I have had wordpress blog now for 5 years but I haven’t posted anything till just recently.
I have a blogger page too but that is for my runescape activities. I confess I always do a lot of blog hopping because I am always trying out new recipes. Also I seen a lot of bloggers that do a lot of blog hopping too to other food blogs because they are also foodies wanting to try out new things. Now to chutney recipe. Ingredients are 1 green chili. It can be a Thai, finger hot, jalapeno or serrano just as long as they are green. A pinch of pink salt. A huge generous pinch of cilantro. 1 clove of garlic. 1 roma or beefsteak tomato. A tsp of either lemon or lime juice. Please do not confuse this for an Indian version of tomato chutney theirs is cooked and they add other stuff to it while this chutney that has been passed down to me by my in laws is raw but still delicious.
Method: Chop the tomato and green chili if you are going to use a mortar and pestle. Also add a clove of garlic and grind it, if using a food processor then cut in small enough pieces and pulse til it is well mixed. then add the rest of the ingredients and the lime or lemon juice and salt. Mix well and you are done. I hope you enjoy this. I also would love to bring the Peshawar area cooking to the for front.
I am going to update this page here. Don’t worry the page for the tomato chutney recipe is staying put. This is one of the main features of this blog and I want everyone still to make this yummy chutney and enjoy I just got rid of the difunctional links and the recipes that I had posted on food.com and allrecipes.com are staying for those that stumble on them. However I am going to make it more easy to find it here on my blog and I hope you like very much.
Sincerely, Benazir Khan

note: I took the links off because they are no longer valid to me. Instead I am reposting those recipes I have posted on food.com and allrecipes.com so everyone will be able to see them a lot more easily.
