I really love smoked turkey and to come to think of it so did my late mother and she was the one that mentioned it one day. Only that I didn’t know I was going to make a smoked turkey stew recipe one day.
This stew I what make the combo of gbegiri, ewedu, stew and amala taste very good. I boiled the smoked turkey wings for 1 hour and used some of the stock for both the gbegiri and also the ewedu. While the the smoked turkey boiled I took out my blender add 2 cloves of garlic, 1 onion / shallot or 3 green onions to the blender if using green onions i cut them in small pieces, 1 tomato, 1 scotch bonnet or habenero and one bell pepper. I add 1/4 cup of water and add a little at a time as I grind away to make the stew. In a pot I add 3 tbs of red palm oil, the stew base that I had just made up, 1 bullion cube, the rest of the meat stock from the smoked turkey, 1 pinch each of crayfish, red chili powder, 3 dashes of maggi or knorr aroma.
I mixed and stirred everything and added the smoked turkey wings, I added 1 tsp of tomato paste and cooked until the stew got thick.
1/4 cup of this stew goes in to gbegiri. It is served with amala with the gbegiri on the bottom, ewedu is next that goes in the middle and the stew goes on top.
This is a truely wonderful meal and very tasty another way of eating this stew if you want to eat it alone is with rice or with gari. Enjoy!!!!!
