I am very humbled by this experiance really. I also want to thank you very much. This potato salad is apart of my childhood since of course I am German. I am going to walk you through the steps on how to make this easy recipe. It is very easy as well as delicious. Are you ready? Get on your mark, get set, go and now it is time to get in the kitchen and get ready to cook.
I scrubbed up to 8 potatoes and boiled them for between 30 to 45 minutes in low. Make sure the water level is over the potatoes.
As soon as they are tender it is time to turn off the heat and drain them. I cook my potatoes with their jackets on because it keeps the vitamins right in the potato itself.
Any type of potato can be used for this except for an orange sweet potato. You do not want it for this recipe. The types of potatoes I refer to are golden Yukon, red and brown russets and Idaho brown potatoes which are bigger and would give you quite a lot of German potato salad.
I kept the skin on but you can remove the skin too and it comes off very easy after boiling and it does not take that much away from the potato. The skins are very edible so do not worry.

This is purely optional and now to our seasoning for this yummy salad itself. I sliced these potatoes in to a bowl after that I used 1 bunch of green onions, also either 1 onion of any kind and 1 shallot can be used too.
I added 1 pinch of each to my mortar and pestle celery seed, mustard seed and black peppercorns and ground them in to a coarse powder then added it to the potatoes.
Next I added 3 pinches each of parsley, turbinado sugar, either vegtea seasoning or seasoned salt. I added the vegtea seasoning of course because it tastes so yummy.
I added 1 oz of grapeseed oil. Olive, safflower or sunflower can also be used. I added 1 oz of rasberry vinegar. Apple cider vinegar can be used also.
Add 3 dashes each of maggi or knorr aroma and stirr. For the vegan option add either 3 dashes of liquid smoke or 7 pieces of Morning Star Farm brand stribbles. This is the veggie bacon.
Firstly you cook these and crumble them adding them to the salad. For non veg option it is 7 strips of either turkey of beef bacon and cook them until done. Let cool a little and add to mini food processor for ease of mincing very finely then add them to the salad.
I used zabiha beef bacon because Mr. Riaz couldn’t find the turkey kind. If you are adding the liquid smoke it is not necessary to add the zabhiha turkey or beef bacon or the stribbles.
For here in USA or UK, you can find the zabiha turkey or beef bacon here in halal meat stores. For everyone else for the liquid smoke or the Morningstar Farm stribbles can be found in either Cermack, Jewel, Marrianos or Whole Foods Market.
It is best to eat warm and enjoy with fish cakes and steemed cabbage. Please let me know in Instagram or Facebook. Also this can be done in an instant pot duo crisp by taking the potatoes and pressure cook in their jackets for 10 minutes then drain.
Chop up 6 pieces of either zabiha halal beef or turkey bacon or Morningstar Farm stribbles on sautè until crispy keep fat folow rest of instructions to complete this dish, enjoy.
