Hey folks I would have had an oh no moment on my hands but my very clever brain had a wonderful idea at the last minute. I had so much juice left over from last night’s Italian beef. There wasn’t that much meat anymore and therefore I said I was going to put rice in the pot to make another meal out of it.
This was solely my creation and I hope you enjoy this recipe. Food is too expensive to waste. This is a terrific idea so next time you make Italian beef if you ever make it at home then you can add rice to it like I did.
As far as the seasoning as concerned there is not a lot to be done here because it has been done already. In a big pot a caldero by the way is what is needed. This is great for cooking rice. Add 5 cups of rice and wash it until the water turns clear.
The rice could be brown or white, short or long grain, basmati or jasmine rice can be used for this particular dish. Add the Italian beef juice to the rice and bring to a boil on high heat. Add 3 pinches of vegtea seasoning. You do not need anymore because the Italian beef is very well seasoned so do not over do it.
Take aluminum foil and wrap it under the lid and place it on the pot. Turn the heat down low and cook for 20 minutes or until rice is done. Brown rice takes longer then white rice to cook. I was wanting brown long grain rice tonight.
When it was done it almost looked like kitchari or shola. Kitchari is a lentil and rice dish from India while shola Is a lentil and rice dish with meat from Peshawar, Pakistan. I turned off the heat and let it sit on the dum for 20 minutes.
Before you serve it, add 3 pinches of parmesan or romano cheeses with some giadarnara which is optional. For me it really was a must have because I eat both types of these cheeses and the giadinara on my rice.
I hope you enjoy this and please let me know on how you like it.
