Howdy folks I haven’t had a chef’s salad in ages. Normally you do not see one that doesn’t have anything haram (forbidden) in it. Now we can have it because everything is zabiha halal cold cuts otherwise known as lunch meat. These are in slices but first it is a must to hard boil first in a sauce pan 2 chicken eggs for 15 minutes, drain let cool peel rinse and set aside.
I love having a notpad on my phone and on my ipad as well as my laptop and desktop computers. To me the is the electronic version of scratch paper and it comes in handy. I remember the old school scratch paper that I had to use to figure out my mathematic problems and back then I needed a lot. So yeah the notpad on these devices rock.
Please do not forget I am an old lady. I will be 54 next month on the 23rd inshallah. What I do on the notepad is do a rough draft of my blog post and look at it then write everything here that you see in my blog posts. Although they may be haphazard and it does all fall in to place.
In a large mixing bowl add 1 head of any type of lettuce that you want to use. If it is the Boston baby lettuce you may need 2 heads because they are so small. Slice 1 cucumber, 1 tomato cut in half moon slices, 1 onion or shallot in half moon slices which are the norm. You can add 1 cup of either grape or cherry tomatoes whole if you do not want to use the bigger tomato.
The optionals are 1/2 head of either green or red cabbage, 1 bell pepper cut in strips, 1 handful of either white or button mushrooms, 3 cups of arugula, I really adore its peppery aroma and the taste so that is why I added it, 1 small piece about an inch in diameter peeled and cut in small pieces or 4 red radishes sliced. 2 carrots julienned, 1 bunch of fresh spinach only washed and chopped, some dill pickles 1 handful of olives, 1 avocado cut in to half moon slices which I added also. this was my choice besides the arugula in the salad.
Out of the optionals part is up to you whatever you want to put in your salad. most people do not like some of these ingredients that is why I put it in the optionals section. After this sprinkle with 1 pinch of oregano which makes it super tasty and it helps eliminate gas. Actually this is the medicinal properties of oregano.
Arrange the zabiha halal lunch meat which does not come in a can this time these are turkey breast, balogna of either chicken, turkey or beef. salami of beef or chicken, mortedella made from chicken or veal, pieces of beef pepperoni, cheese like munster, provolone, cheddar, mozzarella, hallumi, colby. pepper jack, monterey jack, etcetera that gets cut in to strips and added to the salad along with the 2 hard boiled eggs that are sliced.
Using kitchen shears makes this task a breeze. Add croutons for extra flavor and crunch plus your choice of salad dressing. Mine was olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
This is perfect refreshing and filling on a hot day.
