Hey folks I don’t know for the life of me that I am craving some iced tea lately. However I don’t have any ice cubes made so this is the only thing that is purely optional because I don’t like ice floating around in my drinks.
To start with take a tea kettle and fill it up with cold water and set it on the stove to boil on high heat. Wait for the kettle to whistle or hearing the water boil is good enough. If you don’t have a tea kettle take a medium sized pot like a sauce pan and bring the water to a boil and add either 3 black tea bags to either the pitcher and pour the hot water in to it or add to the boiled water in the pot and turn off the heat.
Let the tea steep for 3 to 5 minutes. If using saucepan method add the hot black tea to a pitcher, remove the used tea bags, and add either 1/4 cup of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, blood orange, tangelo or even kamquat juice. The citrus juices get either fresh squeezed or the from reconstituted lemon or lime juice. I have reconstitued lemon and lime juice available so I used the lemon. Also apple cider, unsweetened cranberry, grape or even pomagrante juices can be used too. The citrus juices get either fresh squeezed or the from reconstituted lemon or lime juice. Sweeten it with your favorite sweetener. I used 4 packets of stevia. You can use 1/4 cup either of honey, rice syrup, coconut sugar, turbinado sugar or sugar free syrup. This is a wonderful drink if you want a pick me up and to go along with my yummy soul food dishes or even alone on a scorching hot day. Garnish with either a sprig of fresh mint or a random slice of fruit to make it more pretty and equally as refreshing. Enjoy and duces.
