I really love cornish hens because they are really delicious. They may be a little pricy so I usually buy two of them from the halal store I go get my meat from. I also love maggi and knorr products and I wish they would snap me up and hire me to push their products.
I am not being paid for adertising their products and one can only dream right? I also love their aromas because it makes the food to taste so good it just makes it so tasty and so does the bullion and that is why I use it a lot. I pray to Allah that by the end of this year at the most that they will offer me a spot on their sales team.
I am a home cook. Let me get this straight. I am not a trained chef like Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern but I would love to do a cooking show where I am doing the cooking and it is zabhiha and halal. If maggi and knoor doesn’t hire me then I would love to travel the globe and cook in front a lot of people.
There is a lot of times where I want to spend time traveling for a living. I collect recipes and try them out a lot of times and that is how I roll. Also I never went to culinary school. My gifts is from Allah alone. Now I am going to show you how I cooked this bird.
I preheated the oven to 350 Fahrenheit ot 180 Celsius.
I took out a small roasting pan and put 2 tbs of olive oil in the pan and I had 1 cornesh hen I had thawed out in the fridge the night before. I washed it and put it in the roasting pan. I added 1 bullion cube, 3 dashes of maggi or knorr aroma, 1 clove of garlic that I ground in my mortar and pestle and but it on the bird. I added 1 pinch each of paprika, curry powder, and red chili powder and rubbed it all over the cornish hen, inside and out so it can catch all of the flavor. 1 let it cook for 30 to 35 minutes on each side like I do when I make chicken and keep doing it until it is done.
When it is done there is a little bit of juice in the pan it is a shame to waste it so I take 2 pinches of cornstarch and 2 tbs of water to make a slurry and add it to the pan where the cornish hen is in and I sitrred to mix it well and placed it back in to the oven for 5 minutes. This way I kept an eye on it until the gravy was thickening.
At this stage it is done and you can eat it with chapati or rice.
