I love Turkish food and I hope this comes pretty close. It was extremely tasty after I had cooked it. I used 1 kilo or 1 lb of fresh green beans cut in bite size pieces or 1 bag of frozen green beans. Any style is ok just as long as it is not in a sauce already.
Just beware some of these things are out there just for convenience only. It is there only to make people stupid. It has to be a bag of plain frozen green beans only.
I added 1/4 cup of olive oil to the pot and turned it on to high heat. I added 1 pinch of cumin seeds and watched them crackled then I added 1 onion or 1 shallot cut in to half moon slices and cooked them until they were brown. I added 3 cloves of garlic, 3 pinches of pink salt, 1 small whole dried chilli. It does not matter what type they are. Just as long as it is a small dried red chili it is ok. I added 1 pinch each of paprika and sumac stirred and added 3 tbs of lemon juice. I added 1 tomato and cooked it down until it is a mush.
If you are using frozen green beans then you can skip the step of washing and cutting fresh ones. Add the green beans to the pot then stir.I added 1\4 cup of water stirred again and turned the heat down to low, covered the pot and cooked it for 20 minutes or until the beans are tender. Please do not overcook your vegetables. If you do the vitamins goes straight out of it.
When it is finished enjoy with pide or any other type of Turkish bread.
