When I went to the african store and seen there was ehru on the shelf, I was so excited I bought 3 containers and still keep them on hand like there is no tomorrow. Mr. Riaz was going crazy as he always is about me stocking up on things.
I love to be prepaired and I want stuff on hand and I do not want to panic and say, “Oh My God I Do Not Have This And I Need It Right Now!!!!!!” I swear sometimes this German goes crazy. I now can make my own pepper soup spice and I am a happy camper.
In mortar and pestle I added 1/2 of an ehru which is calabash or african nutmeg, 1 small broken piece of uda, 2 pieces of alligator pepper, 1 pinch of uziza seeds and ground them in the mortar and pestle until It has been turned in to a powder.
Now we have it finally that this is my pepper soup spice. I hope you like it and it passes muster. I added it to the pot of pepper soup I had made in the in the next recipe so see you there.
