Actually this recpie started from a can of some emergency ready to eat dried goods I had purchaced from Amazon and it is reasonable and I wanted to snap it up. When I did make them I did put my spin on it and by following the instructions on the can. It was from Auguson Farms black bean burger mix. Usually these types of things are used in case of extreme emergencies like tornados or other acts of God. it can come in very useful or when you are just plain lazy and feel like you want and honest but goodness veggie burger with all of the trimmings. Actually bring 6 cups of water to a boil and 2 cups of black bean burger mix or according to directions on the can.
This is my special touch right here. I added 1 drop each of liquid smoke, hot sauce and 2 shakes of adobo. Gave it a good mix and let it get thick and let stand for 10 minutes. In a medium cast iron skillet add 1/4 cup of either vegetable oil. corn oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil or peanut oil. Take the mixter by small wooden spoon and place in hot oil on high heat and shape in to a patty this way if it is too hot to touch with hands. Let the patty brown on both sides and place on paper towel lined plate to drain. Besides the burger trimings you can enjoy with condiments of choice such as mustard, mayonnaise or in my opinion that dreaded ketchup. Best to eat with whole grain bread to make the meal even more healthy.
The burger trimmings can be either pickles, cucumbers, cheese of any kind, avocado slices, onion slices and tomato slices. Enjoy with a cold refreshing beverage.
