I love broccoli and there is this recipe on an Indian food blog I was looking at and this is loosely based on this recipe and yet it is my own becasuse I put my own spin on it. This is a stovetop method otherwise non pressure cooker.
I know you are shocked because you haven’t seen a pressure cooker post from me in eons. I took 1 pinch of each chana and black urad ki dal roasted them and ground them with my mortar and pestle. I added 1 cooking spoon on olive oil to the pot and added 1 onion or shallot that I fried til it is brown, 1 pinch of cumin seeds, the ground mixed chana ki dal, 1 pinch each of pink salt, turmeric, red chili powder and Garam Masala. I stirred everything added 1 bay leaf, 2 small heads of broccoli after I washed and cut it in small pieces or 1 bag of frozen broccoli, 1 potato washed peeled or unpeeled and cut in to small pieces, 3 dashes of maggi or knorr aroma, 1 quart or 1 liter of water and stir. I also ground 2 cloves of garlic and 1 small slice of ginger I washed and peeled and ground those in to a paste with my mortar and pestle added it the broccoli and potatoes and let cook for 5 minutes more.
I turned the burner down and let it simmer until the broccoli and potato gets soft.
Best served with chapati.
Chana ki dal and urad ki dal are types of lentils. They are at Indian food stores.
