Ok as I have stated in a previous post eggs are always popping up when you eat breakfast in the morning no matter where you go. In Pakistan it is eaten with halwa puri and cholay in the morning for breakfast.
There are lots of ways to use and to cook eggs and I just want to do a post on how to make just plain eggs because as I see there lots of people that do not know how to cook anymore it seems. It is very basic and simple. There is no need to do anything here at all that is too fancy. Now I have done quiches in the past and this was before I had a food blog. I will do some Inshallah.
Now we just stick with the basic plain egg post for now. They can be fried, hard boiled, soft boiled, over easy, sunny side up and even poached. I am not the type that likes runny yolks. A runny yolk is a yolk that remains raw or under cooked.
I like mine fully done. With my egg here I turned on the high heat and I sprayed ether my wok or cast iron skillet with cooking spray. For sunny side up, crack and egg and let the whites cook and do not flip. The yolk should remain in the center and raw. Be careful not to break it and gently remove it and slide it on the plate.
With over easy you crack the egg after spraying with cooking spray, let egg cook on one side then gently flip and do not let the yolk cook all the way trough. Then ease it on to the plate.
For scrambled you can do it both ways and adding 1 tbs of milk is an option and not mandatory. If using milk crack the egg in the bowl add the milk and beat the egg. Spray with cooking spray and cook until it is done by scraping at the bottom until you have a fully cooked egg and same procedure if you are just going to add just the egg after spraying with cooking spray and cook thoroughly by mixing the white and yolk together with a spatula.
This is then added to the plate. For poached egg, all you need is a small pot and 3 cups of water bring to boil and crack egg and gently drop it in to the boiling water. This part is optional about the yolk. I love mine fully cooked so I let the egg stay in longer until the yolk is cooked. Mostly this yolk is half done and you can ease it out gently and put it on a plate.
Last but not least is boiled eggs which can be hard or soft boiled. Place a small pot on the stove filled with water turn it on to high heat and carefully place an egg in there. For hard boiled it is 10 minutes and soft boiled is 6 minutes.
Here you are. Enjoy!!!!! The halwa, puri, and cholay is meerly a serving suggestion. See you in the next post. Until then, take care.
