Without a dear friend from Turkey this blog post will not be possible. She knows I love to cook and gave me this brilliant recipe. This is what Nuh (as) Noah made for his animals on the trip on the ark. This story is in every holy book the Torah the Bible and the Quran and I respect them all because this yummy Turkish desert is so very healthy too. There are other asure recipes but it doesn’t come close to this at all.
I told her oh my God Riaz loves it too much. I was telling her my husband really loves it and she was very happy. I told her sagol or soal which means thank you in Turkish. Now I am still learning the language I am not fluent in it yet. I still listen to Turkish music too.
Now let’s make asure.
Ingredients: 2 handfuls of wheat kernels
1 drop of rose essence 1 drop of vanilla essence
4 cups of water
1 handful of brown sugar or other another type of sweetener of choice
I handful of dried currents
1 handful of raisons a mix of golden which are called sultanas and dark
5 dates 2 prunes 5 figs 5 dried apricots 1 pinch anar dana these are dried pomegranate seeds.
1 handful of nuts of choice walnuts, pistachios or almonds
I chose almonds for this one as you can see in this picture I made this a long time ago I may as well publish this recipe. When we eat it we think of her. I hope she reads and she likes my blog.
Method: I put 4 cups of water in a pot to boil. I added the wheat kernels and let it cook for 20 to 3o minutes or until it got soft on low heat. I added 1 drop each of vanilla and rose essence. I stirred and added sweetner of choice and all of the dried fruit mentioned above, raisons , apricots, prunes, figs, dates, anar dana, and currents. I let them boil for another 5 minutes or until the dried fruit has softened. I added the nuts of my choice, at this time I felt like almonds. You can also cook in the instant pot and the like by selecting slow cook function on high for 4 to 6 hours.
It can be eaten hot or cold very sweet and very enjoyable.
