This is one thing that gets me and it burns me up badly. Nice try Starbucks stop trying to make chai because your product isn’t the real thing.
People stop spending money that you don’t have for their overpriced cups of their garbage because you are not getting the real thing at all. I have many years of making Indian and Pakistani food under my belt so I pretty much know what I am talking about.
Although I am a German true enough, just don’t forget I am married to a Pakistani and a Pathan or Pashtun at that from Peshawar.
I have to make the things he likes so he can be happy. So for a bunch of ladies who are born in to one culture and married in to another please take note and get out your notepad and start taking notes because this is your education.
This morning I made chai for my husband. Normally he doesn’t bother me and makes his own because he doesn’t want to disturb me because I don’t get that much sleep I have what you call insomnia and he is very worried about me.
With what has happened recently with my oldest daughter’s bad behavior, trust me it is nothing new and it is her kids that is going to suffer and I mean badly because of her bullshit. I hope and pray Inshallah they come out unscathed but knowing her she already has done some damage. I normally don’t like to drink chai but I think I may as well have a cuppa once in a while. I however am a coffee drinker.
Due to the fact that I am an asthmatic and other things I have to watch my consumption of caffeine and I refuse to drink decaf anything which I deem is just utter rubbish.
Take a sauce pan and add 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil and add your teabag or if you are adding loose tea use a tea egg or 1 pinch of tea leaves in the water directly. Add 1/4 cup of milk and let it boil 2 minutes more. You can add both 1 tsp of turbinano sugar, or 4 drops of agave nectar, or 1tsp of sugar in the raw plus some homemade chai masala for masala chai option too. The masala for chai follows as:
1 small slice of ginger washed peeled and ground in a mortar and pestle. 2 green cardamoms, 1 clove, 1 wee pinch of black peppercorns, 1 tiny piece of cinnamon broken from a cinnamon stick ground in to a powder in mortar and pestle and added to boiling chai for the masala chai option.
In India and other parts of Pakistan they drink masala chai a lot, this is if someone is from Karachi mostly. In Lahore on all the way up to Peshawar they drink just plain chai with sugar.
So please make time to have your morning or whatever you decide to have your chai please make it at home? Also this can be done in a microwave if you are in your place of business just add water to a cup and put on hi for 1 minute then add your milk and sweetener of choice and chai masala if you care for masala chai and cook for 1 more minute. Best thing yet business owners buy a hot plate and a pot to make your chai, the stovetop method tastes a lot better.
Cheers
