This Is a yummy raita and it is very popular everywhere really not just in my family. There are also other raita variants. This is a simple dish that will not steam up your kitchen and make it seem hotter then it is on a hot day and very great to eat with various rice dishes and kababs.
I added 1/2 cup of yogurt and beat it till smooth and added 1/4 cup of water and gave it a good mix. I added 1 pinch each of chat masala and red chili powder. I chopped one small onion or I sometimes I will also add 1 shallot or 3 green onions chopped. I add 1 small cucumber by cutting off the ends first and I rub one end of the cucumber with one of the ends I cut off to release the gas. Yes cucumbers can be gassy. I also add 1 green chili. You may use Thai, jalapeno, or Serrano chilies and mixed to blend well and this raita is ready to eat
I remember when Mohamed Mussa bhai jahn lived right next door from my mother. He went back to India later to marry and next thing you know I met Zeenat baji. I remember Zeenat baji used to make raita and she added green onion in hers. That Is way I added it as an option on what type of onions to use.
I make this sometimes for my husband and I am always talking about them. When Zeenat baji came here to usa she brought my mother with her a beautiful pink sari and it was very expensive. My mother was showing me how to wrap one. Only if they can see me now that me being a German girl is now married to a Pathan from Peshawar who wears shalwar khameez.
I wonder if they are reading my food blog and following me. I really wish they would find me and follow me too in social media as well. I wonder if they remember me at all. I know they would be shocked once they hear that I speak Urdu too. Mohamad Musa bhai jahn and Zeenat baji asalamualaykum I still remember you. Even though my mother is no longer with me although I still miss her a lot. The more I think of my mother the more of an emotional mess I become I just really miss her.
