Sugar Free Lokma

Actually a dear Turkish friend gave me a recipe for lokma. She was the very same person who gave me the recipe for asure. The asure recipe of mine is on an old post here in this blog and I am going to start first with using the sugar free syrup which is I had bought from a store selling Middle Eastern groceries. Use 1 half bottle of this with 1/4 cup of water on low heat on the stove in a medium pot. Add 2 capfuls of lemon juice and add 1 pinch of grated lemon rind. Grind 1 small piece of cinnamon stick in mortar and pestle and add to the boiling sugar free syrup mixture and let it cook for at least 5 minutes.
Add to a mixing bowl 1/2 cup of all purpose unbleached flour 1 pinch of turbindano sugar 3 pinches each of rapid rise or quick rise yeast either in bag or jar, 3 pinches of baking powder, 1 pinch of xantan gum, 1 pinch of pink salt, sea salt or even kosher salt. 1 handful of powdered egg. The dry ingredients get sifted together except the turbindano sugar just add that too the bowl. Add 1/4 cup of room temp water and make it in to a soft dough. For my readers who lives in Africa it is almost like if you are making puff puff but it is in syrup lol.
In a deep cast iron skillet add 1/4 cup of either corn, canola, vegetable or sunflower oil and take teaspoonfuls of the dough and add it to the hot oil on high heat. Make sure they are in batches of 3 at a time and they are not touching. Fry until golden, remove from oil and place in the sugar free syrup mixture which should have the heat turned off at this time and repeat until it is all finished and no more dough is remaining. Greeat to eat when drinking Turkish coffee or even tea. Also this is not gulab jamun if you are looking for this it is on an older post too so use the search bar on these pages to look for it if you want that recipe.
