Aguas Frescas Jamaica {Hibiscus}

Actually not really what you think because I have already done a post for zobo and this is a very basic recipe with only very few ingredients. Now let me crow and get on my soap box here about this hibiscus drink because it is a tonic, pure and simple. I am going to do one from Egypt one day thart I made once during Ramadan but I will have to make that up Inshallah I have the recipe for it in my Pinterest where I can make it up and give you my take on it and how I did it.
This Lovely drink is amazing and all you need to do is add water to a small pot by filling it up completely and it can be either a small to medium sauce pan but I have a small coldero which is great too. Turn on the heat to high and make sure the water is boiling rapidly. Take a tea egg which they have at most grocery stores or even some gift shops or perhaps on Amazon or Ebay and they do not cost a whole lot. If you do not have that and you have a small strainer then this is ok too. You can take 2 or 3 generous pinches of hibiscus flowers and either add it to the pot directly or place it in the tea egg and submerge that in to the boiling water. Once it turns red then shut the heat off on the stove and let it cool completely.
If you are going to strain then it isn’t a problem and a small strainer will do the job just fine once after this cools. Before you add the now hibiscus tea to the pitcher add 1/4 cup of either agave nectar or sugar free syrup by Zayed brothers. They can be bought at any Middle Eastern grocery stores but the hibiscus and agave nectar especially can be found at many stores selling Mexican and also African groceries. Also the same amount of monk fruit sweetener can be added also and even 4 packets of stevia if you prefer the sweetner of choice or even splenda if that is your thing but this is for us diabetics. For non diabetics you can add honey. Now add the contents from the pot while using a strainer if you do not have a tea egg. If you have a tea egg then remove it and let the hibisucus tea strain from it and then pour this in to the pitcher and then stir with a clean wooden spoon. Add 3 or 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher along with the hibuscus mixture and stir place the cover on it and place it in the refridgerator to chill. Serve this with your favortie Mexican entree.
