Zabiha Halal Version Of Mock Turtle Soup

Actually this is my first time I made this soup. From what I read that it is supposed to imitate the taste and texture of turtle soup. However I do not eat turtle and I never had it before. Besides I am a Muslim and this is the blog I started to help other Muslims and other people with dietary challanges like myself to come and look up a recipe of things that are easy to make and very tasty too.
There is another factor in here the original has sherry which is alcohol and this type of thing is haram. So I do not want anyone to think I am selling out and I really am not. Before I even attempted this recipe I did my research by Googling an alternative to the haram sherry. I did not add this and I will not now and not ever. What I did find is something that they mentioned was apple cider vinegar either with or without agave nectar.
I never had mock turtle soup before until I made it for the very first time the day before yesterday. As you see I timestamp my photos. Actually my camera does it. Besides if I did not find this alternative this recipe would not even be possible. I would not even attempt to make it then taking a picture of the finished product nor will I upload the picture here in to WordPress and make a blog post of this.
Now I did my homework and made this dish took the picture and uploaded it so I can make this blog post possible. I am not doing it just for me I am doing it for you guys, my readers. Like I said before this blog is for everyone’s taste preferance and all human kind. We are in a dire situation now and I am not liking it at all one single bit and my heart is shattered.
What pleases me more is when someone comes to my blog and looks up my recipes and tries them and enjoys the recipes I have written. I am not doing it with hand braces on my hands because my doctor suspects carpel tunnel syndrome. So whenever I type I have to wear these braces on my hands and take a pain pill. I am also working to music powered by my mp3 devices lol. Actually now I have 8 of them. Anyway great music plus great food equals life. Now on to the recipe.
You will need a medium coldero on the stove first. Then you will also need a food processor or meat grinder if you prefer to grind meat like I do. My Birthday Present Is A Meat Grinder/ Homemade Raw Keema (Ground Meat)< This link on the left will explain on how to grind meat. This is a beef only recipe so I used 1 lb or 1 kg of ground beef. Just be sure to wash your meat before grinding. If you are using prepackaged ground beef then you need to put it in a strainer and rinse it with cold water. Shake strainer gently to remove the bloody water and set aside.
Turn heat on to high on the stove. This is a stovetop only recipe. Add 1 oz of either corn, canola, vegetable, avocado, olive, sunflower, safflower or grapeseed oil. 3 pats of butter or 3 tbs of butter ghee. Let this melt and blend with the oil and add either 1 onion or shallot chopped.
In a mortar and pestle add 1 bullion cube or 2 tsps of bullion powder 1 pinch each of peppercorns, color doesn’t matter, they are green, pink, red, black, white or mixed color, celery seeds and allspice berries grind until they are in a powder. Empty this in to the pot with the onion and add the ground beef and start stirring.
Add 1 small piece of ginger and 4 cloves of garlic to mortar and pestle to crush and add to the pot. Stir and add 3 stalks of celery chopped if you have not added the celery seeds to the mortar and pestle. Add 2 bay leaves, 1 bell pepper chopped, 1 tsp of hot sauce, 3 dashes each of worcestershire sauce and maggi or knorr aroma, 3 tbs of tomato paste, 1 dab or marmite which depends on the availability because marmite is a specialty item imported from UK. Add 1 pinch of thyme, 1 tsp of either lemon or lime juice, 1 oz apple cider vinegar either with or without 1 tsp of agave nectar which is a halal replacement for sherry. Above by all means this sherry is an absolute forbidden substance this is why apple cider vinegar and agave nectar added to this dish is a much more permitted alternative.
Boil 1 egg for 15 to 20 minutes on high in a small pot on high heat. This is the garnish at the end. In a small bowl add 3 tbs of cornstarch and 2 cups of water to make a slurry and put it in the pot with the ground beef mixture and stir then cover and cook for 15 minutes reduced to low heat and covered. Stir from time to time and when thickened turn the heat off. Peel and slice the hard boiled egg and put it on top of the now zabiha halal mock turtle soup. Add 1 to 2 pinches of either parsley or cilantro to complete the garnish along with the hard boiled egg slices.
