Oh My God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I made this in the microwave yesterday morning, I had quite of a mess to clean up. I was lucky it didn’t get all over the microwave. There was like a glas plate that caught most of it and I was able to salvage the spill. Phew because it was a really close call!!!!!!!
I transfered contents and cleaned up my mess asap and cleaned the container I made my Tom Brown in and put it back in the now clean container. I did not mean for this to overfill. So this time I really am more aware.
I am impressed it is yummy it has a taste like malt and peanuts. This actually comes from Ghana. I know a few folks from Ghana that I follow on Instagram know I love Naija food but they would be amazed if I can pull this off too. Actually the stovetop directions are on the package. If you want this method follow these instructions.
I wanted to try it out in the microwave and it goes like this.
In a microwave safe dish add 3 tbs of Tom Brown powder, 2 tsps of either turbinado sugar, honey or agave nectar, 1 cup of water a little at a time to make sure the batter is lump free. Cover by laying the lid on there loosely so it does not pop and go kaboom.
Cook for 1 minute then stir and cook again for 30 minutes paying close attention that it does not boil over in to the microwave. If you want add 1/4 cup of milk and stir and cook for another 30 seconds.
Remove stir again and let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Be very careful the mixture is very hot. Enjoy with akara.
