Barbecue Beef Brisket In The Oven

I recently had to say good bye to an old friend and it is painful as hell. I am crying now as I am typing out this very recipe. He was a very good man and so was his wife who passed away before he did. They looked out for other people and took care of their family too.
I am forever grateful that Allah put those people in my life. They also kept me out of trouble too. When Mr. Riaz came in to my life, they welcomed him with open arms. They loved to hear me tell them Mr. Riaz loves Soul Food. He loves barbecue, fried catfish, macaroni and cheese and even cornbread dressing to name a few. Also he loves greens and beens too.
I was asked by a friend who is an artist and she is a blogger here on WordPress too. She blogs about her artwork and she is this gentleman’s daughter. Everyone in this family are my friends. They are friends of my daughters also as well.
She asked me to bring stuff for the repast and it is pot luck so we helped get the paper plates, paper cups, napkins, plastic silverware, pop, the brisket which I made the day before and red velvet cake. The cake was store bought. It was for the repast and everyone liked it.
Look here if you are friends with someone. please do not let religion to be an issue because this creates division and this is not fair at all. For those that do not know I used to be Christian. The sect I belonged to was a Lutheran. They follow the teachings of Martin Luther. He rebelled against the Catholic Church. I was 27 when I became Muslim and started to follow Islam.
Even after I became muslim these people never stopped loving me and I am thankful for that. Now in African Americans calls funerals a home going. It is because when someone leaves their earthly bodies they go back home to be with God. A repast is a get together for a fellowship and to eat with the family and friends of the dead. I hope I simplified it for my relatives over in Pakistan to explain how other cultures handle the death of a friend and a relation. That old man was like an uncle to me.
Now It was two days before the home going and the repast of our loved one who I was talking about. Cancer is a horrible disease. Please get yourself checked and pray it is detected early. Mr. Riaz got the brisket. It was so big it was not fitting in to the inner lining of my instant pot which is a 8 quart. However I washed off the brisket and seasoned it with 3 dashes each of apple cider vinegar, Maggi or knorr aroma. Also either 3 dashes of either seasoned salt or vegtea seasoning or use either 3 pinches of pink salt, kosher salt or sea salt, another option is 3 pinches of bullion powder or 1 bullion cube.
Crush 3 cloves of garlic, add it with 1 pinch each of savory, thyme, marjoram and 1 pinch of peppercorns in a mortar and pestle that is ground coarsely. Rub all of the seasoning in this brisket and let it sit in the refrigerator to marinate over night. The next morning I got up to check my sugar levels and put the brisket in to an oven that is at 375F or 190C. I have a roasting pan big enough for a small turkey with a trivet. Spray that with cooking spray and lay the brisket on top of the trivet in the roasting pan and put in the oven for up to 4 hours. This means by setting the timer for 1 hour for each increment. When the timer goes off lift the lid and get a turkey baster and baste the brisket with its juices.
This meat has made its own juice a plenty. I could have taken this juice and made a gravy but I had other plans. Here you can use either Sugar Free Carolina Gold Barbecue Sauce or Barbecue Sauce Benazir Khan Style. I had some leftover sugar free Carolina gold barbecue sauce I had used for the chicken wings. This I had frozen. So the last 1/2 hour of cooking this brisket after it was done and tender, I ended up putting the rest of the sauce on this brisket and and put it back in the oven for 1/2 hour. I then let it cool and I cut it in to pieces and it was so tender that I broke it apart with my hands. The carpel tunnel made my hands hurt like hell but I am a trooper and I pushed on. Besides the sauce coated the meat nicely.
Now I got a pair of bear claws that I can use for shredding meat. I bought them from Walmart. Please do not confuse it for a pastry. Too late for me because Mr. Riaz already knows I did. You can eat this with French or Italian bread. These we brought to and pickles for the brisket. To shred the brisket you have to cut the brisket in to tiny pieces and this makes it easy to shred and there was a lot of people and can feed everyone that was there.
