Here is another crowd pleaser and this is my version of zeera aloo (potatoes with cumin seeds). This is a yummy dish and very vegan friendly and this is how I did it.
I added 1/4 cup of olive oil to a pot and put it on high heat. After the oil got hot I added 1 pinch of hing, 1 big pinch of cumin seeds and watched them sputter. I added 1 pinch each of pink salt and red chili powder. I chopped 1 green chili and added that to the pot as well.
I stirred and turned off the heat so the masala does not burn. I washed very well 3 potatoes. They can be any type of potatoes. I cut them in thin slices after washing them very well and added them to the pot.
I stirred again and this time I turned on the burner to low and with the lid on for 10 minutes then stirring occationally. I cooked for another 10 minutes or until soft.
The suggested serving is with chipati and with yogurt or you can eat them with dosa.
This is a very basic dish and it takes under and hour to cook. Please give it a try and leave the comments below.
