I was looking up on how to make this dish. I know it exists and so does the chicken almondine and trout almondine recipes. I will tackle them in the future Inshallah. This time I do the green bean almondine recipe. It is very simple and not that many ingredients are used.
However I put my own spin on this recipe so mine would stand out from everyone else’s. The orginal recipe doesn’t have the ingredients I put in mine. besides I love my food with a kind of a kick as you can tell.
Righto, it is time to get busy. I turned on the heat to high and to my coldero I have added 1/4 cup of olive oil. In my mortar and pestle 1/4 cup of almonds and crushed them lightly. I put them in a bowl and set it aside. I added 1 pinch each of black peppercorns and cumin seeds and ground them until it was a coarse powder and added it to the hot oil.
I added 1 pinch each of sumac, red chili powder, the crushed almonds, 4 cloves of garlic peeled and crushed, cook them until they are a little brown then 1 kg or 1 lb of fresh green beans that has been washed trimmed and cut or 1 bag of frozen green beans. I love the cut and the french cut ones which are just perfect.
Add either 1 pinch of pink salt, 3 pinches of vegtea seasoning or 3 dashes of seasoned salt. Stir add 3 dashes of maggi or knorr aroma and 1 tbs of either lemon or lime juice. Reduce heat to low and cook for 20 minutes or until beans are tender.
Enjoy them with rice, noodles, naan or as a side dish for meatloaf, baked chicken, fried or baked fish and kababs.
