Tomato Bredie

I have tried another South African dish after I made the bunny chow. I am in love with both of these and the flavors are awesome. Add either 1oz of either corn oil, vegetable oil or canola oil. To this either add 3 pats of butter or 2 tsps of butter ghee. Add 1 onon or shallot and 4 cloves of garlic chopped on high heat and cook until slightly brown. Add 1 bullion cube, 3 dashes of maggi or knorr aroma, 1 pinch of chili powder, stir and add 1 tomato and 3 tbs of tomato paste, 1 kg or 1 lb of either lamb, goat veal or beef. Scrub and quarter 2 potatoes. wheather you want to keep the skin on the potatoes on or not, it is totally up to you. It is a me thing that I love the skin on my potatoes. Add 2 carrots peeled and cut in to chunks, Add 5 cups of water. Cover and let cook for 40 minutes with the heat reduced to low.

Add 3 tsps of agave nectar, 2 packets of stevia or 1 tbs of monkfruit sweetner. Let cook on stovetop for another 20 minutes. Also for instant pot you will need to add the oil and butter ghee on saute for 10 minutes and tap start then add onion or shallot with garlic and let brown, add tomato and let it turn mushy. Add everything else then if you prefer to pressure cook or slow cook. You may have to select cancel and turn on pressure cook for 20 minutes have your pressure cook lid on and on sealing then select start. When cooker shuts off add steam diverter to the top of vent and let escape naturally or tap quich release button. If slow cooking then select cancel then place aluminum foil over the top and make sure this is snug then place a lid that will fit on top of the cooker and select slow cook for 4 hours and start. When time is up again go to saute turn this on and add 1 tbs of corn starch and 1/4 cup of water to make a slurry and add this and stir until the gravy gets thick. Turn off cooker and serve with either grits or polenta. This will serve as mele pap.
